Forest House (Gable Front)

This new cottage is exclusive to the Expo.  It is on sale in aid of the SL Relay for Life charity and when the expo finishes will be put up on the Marketplace.

It is a small cottage to be put in the middle of a deep forest, resting by a lake or maybe on the side of a mountain.  It is  a house that sits well besides the natural world.

Another floating island?  Yes, I just love them.  To my mind, they are a perfect mixture of cosy home, a magical social space for friends and a wonderful retreat surrounded by peaceful natural landscaping.  If only we could have them in RL too :))

Description

This cottage is made from white wooden planks, white bricks and white tiles, giving it its name.  There are two entrances, either of which could be used as the main entrance depending on how you decide to orient your house.  One entrance is via a porch which houses a bench with sit animations.

The ground floor houses the main living area.  There is a large window area with flower pots on the window sills.  Outside, a pool awaits under a large awning, next to a small grassy area on which stand two chairs under a tree.  The pool water contains floating  animations.  There are two pool-side towels containing animations.

A short flight of steps leads up to a smaller first floor room.  A fireplace provides the focal point, under a large open-beamed roof.  Again large windows, these ones tintable for a little privacy, provide a view across the landscape.  At one end of the room, is a smaller area area I envisaged as a cozy corner for a bedroom.

There is a terrace, accessible from a door in the upper room, surrounded by a white wooden fence.  An awning provides a little shade.

Evening Cottage

This is the darker version of the Morning Cottage.  Whilst the Morning Cottage is as bright as sunny morning, the Evening Cottage is as cozy and comfortable as a twilight, summer evening.  It feels good to be within this warm house with someone close.  Or maybe its a solitary refuge.  Either way, it feels like a real home.

Morning Cottage

This cottage has the same structure as the Refuge Cottage, but using lighter textures and with no tower.  After showing some friends the Refuge Cottage, some asked if I could remove the tower as it wasn’t appropriate for the style of their land, hence the Morning Cottage was born.  Its a ‘feel good’, ‘sharing’ house to possibly put in the midle of a friendly hillside landscape.  Why not catch up with your neighbours while you both enjoy some time sitting on your porch?

Refuge Cottage

I call this the Refuge Cottage due to the tower.  You can teleport up to the small room at the top of the tower for a few moments of solitude.  Put a large armchair in it, take a good book, and enjoy the precious peace and quiet.  Or maybe savour a lovely meeting with a close friend. Feel safe behind the thick walls, sitting in front of the fireplace or perhaps on the porch watching the sunset. Then you will know why this house is called a refuge.

Ravennest Cottage

Do you like dark, mysterious houses steeped in history?  Who knows what has been seen between these walls?  This house is perfect in any medieval or Gorean setting.  The dark stones and ancient wooden beams take us back to an earlier time.  Install it among towering pines, where it could house a witch or sorcerer.  Or perhaps you see it as being the kind of refuge that befits one crazy enough to live in a haunted looking manor!  Marry ancient and modern by adding artful modern furniture or perhaps a touch of abstract art to adorn its historic walls!  All is possible, whatever makes you feel most at home.

Elemental Cottage Multi Pack

The four elemental cottages – Earth, Air, Fire and Water – make a wonderful set.  Great for many installations, for example in a village, medieval roleplay or gorean sim – any thing with natural landscaping.

The cottages are useful for rentals, all having independent access control and tinting windows.  Each cottage has a single room (10×10 sq m).  Two have terraces and one is on a floating rock island (which could also be used as a skybox if required)!

All are fully copyable, providing many options for different combinations of installation.

Air Cottage

The last of the 4 elements (having completed earth, water and fire).  This uses the same basic house structure as my other houses, but this time the house is placed on a floating rock island, surrounded by a garden of trees and fairy flowers!

Whether installed above the clouds or just 10m in the air, this cottage will give you the privacy and freedom associated with a reclusive residencal retreat.

A fence surrounds the garden to prevent you falling off, and a wooden bench situated in a flower field makes for the perfect place for quiet reflection with a friend.  A magic lamp adds to the atmosphere, helping to create one of those silient moments of escapism we all appreciate in Second Life.

As a fully copyable cottage, you could set up several, at different heights naturally, for renting to others.

Also available as part of a multi-pack with the other elemental cottages (earth, water and fire).

Fire Cottage

Once on the theme of the four primitive elements, having already completed an Earth and Water cottage, fire was the obvious next step.

This cottage is designed to be put on a mountain side and therefore is ideal for someone with basic terraforming skills who can integrate it into a mountain landscape.  I always imagined it on top of a hill, or embedded in the rocks of a mountainside – its two fire columns on the terrace guiding the weary traveller home to a secure, warm refuge.

Sitting on a terrace, overlooking land that you might have terraformed yourself, you might be entitled to a small moment of pride at what you have created.  That feeling of proud achievement is something everyone should experience every once in a while.

As a fully copyable cottage, you could even set a few up side by side for renting to others.

Also available as part of a multi-pack with the other elemental cottages (earth, air and fire).
